Here is our Xmax v3 Pro Review. The Xmax v3 pro is a surprising little dry herb vaporizer that doesn’t break the bank! Coming in at $109 (look out for sales because I got mine for $80 on 420), this tall but skinny vape does a shockingly good job! With its all aluminum body, magnetic cooling chamber and mouthpiece with integrated stir tool, a removable battery, precision temperature controls and a full convection oven, the Xmax V3 Pro presents quite a good value proposition for the first time vape buyer or someone who is looking for a decently portable vape (more on that later).

When I unboxed this device I was genuinely surprised at the way it felt. My first question was “whoa is this made of metal?” I spent about five minutes tapping it because at this price point I couldn’t believe this was made of aluminum. For me, details like that go a long way!

Inside the box it had some alcohol wipes, singular dosing capsule, q-tips, a brush, a short USB-C charging cable, and the instruction manual.

After a full charge (which took about two hours to get it to maximum on it’s first charge with a basic power brick), I loaded the chamber up with some herb and fired it up. Three clicks of the main button turn it on and you’re greeted with a POTV logo and then you are off to the races.

My first hit with this device was surprising in a good way. I had been daily driving an Arizer Solo 3v2 and while the flavor wasn’t even close to as good, I was pleasantly suprised (more on the flavor later in the review).

The magnetic mouthpiece and battery cover combined with a nice OLED screen makes this device feel more expensive than it really is!

Build Quality and Ergonomics of The Xmax V3 Pro

As stated above, I was pleasantly surprised by the aluminum body and magnetic features of this device. When you pick the Xmax V3 pro up, it feels cold and premium in your hand! You can reach all of the relevant buttons with one hand (I personally use my thumb).

The battery compartment is secured by magnets but will pop off easily using the cutout on the bottom left of the battery compartment.

As this device sits in your hands, it inspires confidence and I never really feel like I’m going to drop it. I purchased the all black version of this device and it comes in multiple colors. I do leave a fair amount of fingerprints on it. Depending on your hands and the color you choose, your mileage may vary in that department.

The black glass stem feels really great to use too and seems to do a really good job of cooling the vapor off before you inhale.

The Xmax V3 Pro fits great in a pocket and will usually stay out of the way in most cases. The height of the device does present some challenges for shallower pockets, but I usually throw it in my back pocket if I’m on the go.

XMAX V3 Pro Heating & Temperature Control Review

The Xmax V3 Pro has a very good heat-up time at just about 15 seconds to reach it’s target temperature. You do, however, need to give the device just a few seconds 1-2 to heat soak the herbs before your first pull on it if you want to get any vapor. It has a heat range between 212 – 428 degrees F (100-200 degrees C).

The precise temperature adjustments with dedicated buttons is a welcome addition to this device. In my testing, the Xmax V3 Pro holds its temperature pretty well with only overshoots and undershoots of about 6-8 degrees respectively. It will usually settle in after a few seconds.

The chamber is made of stainless steel and while not the same as ceramic, it still holds heat decently.

Vapor Production and Draw Resistance

The Xmax V3 Pro produces very clean vapor and can certainly create clouds. It is limited by the size of its heating chamber so you won’t be ripping large clouds off of the same bowl more than a couple of times.

The initial vapor is smooth and void of any burnt or harsh tones. As you progress in the session, the vapor will naturally start to change and become less and less thick and more harsh overtime. This is a normal thing on all dry herb vaporizers because the herb is changing as you vape it, but on this device it does tend to get to the harsh stage a bit faster than most of my other devices.

The draw resistance on the Xmax V3 Pro is good for its price range. If you are someone coming from a device like the Venty or an Arizer solo 3 (full review coming soon), you may feel you need to put a bit more effort into drawing on this. It’s not the worst thing in the world, but it definitely requires a bit more to draw on than some of the upper echelon of vaporizers. Most people probably won’t even notice this unless they have used other vaporizers that have significantly less draw resistance.

Vapor Flavor

This was probably the most shocking part of my testing. The first hit was surprisingly flavorful for a device that costs this much!

I must admit that my expectations were pretty low coming into this review as I only paid $80 dollars for this device. I was bracing for another “Yocan” type of experience. But all throughout my first session, I just kept saying to my wife “wow this is shockingly good”.

I would equate the level of flavor you get from this to something like the airvape legacy pro which is about $79 more expensive if you paid full MSRP for both. As the session continued, the vapor flavor began to fall off pretty quickly and by the end of my session my herb was completely cashed out.

Loading The Device

Loading this device was a small bit of a challenge in that it’s so tall that it’s easy to drop herb as you load it, especially if you are pinching the herb and dropping it in.

One of the design choices I really appreciated was that the heating chamber hole where you load the herb in is inset into the device and there is an almost “drain-like” slope towards the oven. This allows you to easily brush any herb that didn’t make it into the hole down pretty easily. I always appreciate little quality of life design choices like that.

Battery Life For The Xmax V3 Pro

The replaceable battery does a really nice job. You get an average of about 10 sessions per charge with the Xmax V3 pro. And you’ll need them if you’ve got a high tolerance. The battery life is adequate and gets the job done, however in on-demand mode it does drain quicker so you may only get around 6-8 uses per charge.

The convenient thing about that is you can get a second battery to keep with you if you need it and changing it takes no time at all.

Cleaning the Xmax V3 Pro

Cleaning is not a big challenge. The top of the device separates into 4 total pieces, the stem, the screen, the inner silicone portion and the outer shell. Overall it takes about five minutes of work to get this thing clean. The stainless steel chamber cleans pretty well from what I’ve experienced.

My Gripes with the Xmax V3 Pro

For the price I paid for it, I feel bad even writing this. It’s genuinely a really good device and it’s even better when you consider that I paid $80 dollars for it on sale and it came with some goodies.

In the interest of fairness though, I do see a few areas they could improve upon it. The first area of improvement is the size of the oven. It’s just too small and for someone who has a mid to high level of tolerance, I have to refill it a couple of times.

My other gripe is that it gets dirty pretty quick. The mesh on the bottom of the mouthpiece will get clogged quite easily (I suspect that is partly because I tend to over pack the device so I can get more at one time). You may, depending on how much you use it, need to clean this device more frequently than other devices.Your results will be different as your use case will be unique to you. Just watch out for that.

Final Verdict

The Xmax V3 Pro is a killer device for an even better price and might just be one of the best budget convection vaporizers on the market. This would be my recommendation to someone who is starting out in dry herb vaping but doesn’t want to spring for a premium device that costs double or even triple the price. The Xmax V3 Pro delivers adequate flavor, vapor and will absolutely “get you there” especially if you’re someone with a lower tolerance. It’s great for on the go and also works well for in home use!

FAQ

Q: What is the price of the XMAX V3 Pro?

💬 The XMAX V3 Pro typically sells for $109, but sales (like 420 deals) can bring it down to $80 or less.

Q: Is the XMAX V3 Pro a convection or conduction vape?

💬 It’s a full convection vaporizer, meaning it heats the herb using hot air rather than direct contact—leading to better flavor and efficiency.

Q: How long does the battery last?

💬 On session mode, expect around 10 sessions per charge. In on-demand mode, it drains faster, averaging 6-8 uses per charge.

Q: How fast does the XMAX V3 Pro heat up?

💬 It reaches its target temperature in about 15 seconds, but for best results, let the herb heat soak for 1-2 extra seconds before taking your first draw.

Q: Does the XMAX V3 Pro produce big clouds?

💬 It can, but due to the small chamber, you won’t get massive hits repeatedly from the same bowl. Expect smooth, flavorful draws with moderate cloud production.

Q: How easy is it to clean?

💬 Cleaning is quick and simple—just separate the four pieces of the mouthpiece and brush out the stainless steel chamber. Alcohol wipes work great for deeper cleaning.

Q: What are the main downsides of the XMAX V3 Pro?

Q: Is the XMAX V3 Pro worth buying?

💬 Absolutely, especially for beginners or budget-conscious users. The full convection heating, replaceable battery, and magnetic features make it a standout choice under $100.
