I purchased the Puffco Pivot for this puffco pivot review about a month and a half ago and have been using it almost every night since! I only stop when I run out of concentrate ;). I’ve already reviewed the Bomb E-rig Sykloud and the Puffco Peak (2025 model) and I was excited to put the little pivot to the test. What interested me most about this device was the size and price and I was curious as to how this thing stood up against much bigger rigs. While this isn’t an erig (it’s a dab pen), I couldn’t help but wonder…will I even like this thing?

Unboxing

Let’s start with unboxing and setup. Unboxing is exactly what you would expect from a company like puffco. They really have this whole product packaging thing down! For this device, I opted to use their QR code which sends you directly to a support page with videos showing you exactly what you need to do in order to get your pivot up and running. I really appreciated that. I got it out, followed the instructions by charging it up, then I did a few burn-offs, wiped out the chamber, and we were good to go!

First Impressions

Honestly, I was impressed by this little device. I absolutely love the size of it in hand. It’s small and obviously designed to be an on the go dab pen. I appreciate the silicone mouthpiece and how easy it is to pop on and off, and since we’re on that subject, the mouthpiece is “captive” meaning it just pops off and stays there which is a good idea considering that would be the first thing I lose!

Chamber Size

When I opened the mouthpiece up to see the chamber, I was a little hesitant. It’s small…(it is a dab pen however…so keep that in mind when you’re thinking about this) you’re not going to be dropping fat globs into this thing by any stretch of the imagination. Having said that, it’s a fine size for on the go…just don’t expect this chamber to handle the amount of concentrate a bomb sykloud or peak will…its not designed for that. But it uses a 3d temperature controlled chamber which does a really nice job of heating your dab evenly.

Operating the Pivot

After watching the video by puffco, I was ready to turn on my device and try my first dab. Turning on the pivot is pretty simple; you just hold down the power button and the pivot will vibrate. I must say I do appreciate puffco’s attention to detail here. Just like on the peak, when you power on the pivot, it vibrates in a way that “ascends” to let you know you’re turning it on. That’s really cool in my opinion.

After that you can choose your own temperature by single clicking the power button which gives you 4 total power settings: Blue (low), Green (medium), Red (high), White (peak). I personally chose the green setting because I have baby lungs and it seems to give me the best flavor and clouds that I can personally handle.

I double clicked the button to start my little dab session and we were off to the races. One cool thing about the pivot is that they have this little LED strip in the center of it under the power button. It’s well thought out because it gives you a ton of information.

While your pivot is heating up, it indicates where it is in the process by slowly illuminating the strip until it’s full. Once it’s full, it vibrates to let you know and then it’s time to start enjoying your dab. Conversely, the LED counts down backward to let you know how much longer you have in your “session”. Those little cues are pretty cool in my opinion.

Battery Life

In my testing, the Puffco Pivot delivered about 10-15 sessions (roughly) per charge and re-charged via usb-c in a little over an hour. A full charge gives you enough for a full days use without worrying about it running out of power.

Flavor and Vapor Quality

Flavor

I’m used to dabbing through an e-rig with water in it. I was worried that this would not be anywhere close to the same experience as I’ve had with the Sykloud and the Peak. I was wrong. The flavor on the pivot is really, really nice…surprisingly so. I was tasting all the terps and all the little nuances in my concentrate. My first dab was with some pineapple express and that is a strain I am quite familiar with. It was delicious.

Vapor Quality

It’s exactly what you’d expect from a dab pen. I got solid clouds and I could get at least 4 big puffs or two MASSIVE puffs out of this thing. Honestly, no notes. The vapor was smooth, and only a little warm (my experience, but others who are sensitive may feel it’s too warm or even bordering on hot), which I was a bit worried about considering there is no water and not a lot of room for the vapor to cool down. Overall, it is a really, really nice experience for what you’re using.

Issues and Drawbacks

  1. The outside of the chamber/mouthpiece can get pretty warm if you do sessions close together. It’s to be expected though as it’s a small device and the heat has to go somewhere.
  2. The vapor can be on the warm/hot side of things especially for those who are very sensitive to the temperature of their vapor.
  3. It gets dirty QUICK! The silicone mouthpiece can get gunked up quite fast and if this becomes your daily driver, then you’ll need to stay on top of cleaning it. Which is fairly easy for the most part.

What I loved

  1. The design. It’s really, really well thought out by people who are passionate about product design. It’s beautiful and a really nice portable dab pen.
  2. The flavor. I was shocked at how well it performed.
  3. The vapor quality is really good (if you can handle an experience that’s on the warm side of things).

Who’s the Pivot for?

I think the Puffco Pivot is designed for someone who wants to take some dabs on the go or someone who doesn’t need a massive e-rig that can keep up with them. The pivot is made for someone who wants to throw it in their pocket, purse, or bag and wants to take it along with them wherever they go. This is a lifestyle device in my opinion, not an e-rig. And it’s not trying to be an e-rig. It’s an addition to your other devices.

Who the Puffco Pivot isn’t for

The puffco pivot isn’t for someone who needs an e-rig that will give them session after session after session. It’s not designed to keep up with the heavy hitters like a Peak Pro or a Sykloud. It’s there for a quick hit or two and that’s about it. If you do massive globs and need something that will keep up with you stuffing tons of concentrate into it, this one is not for you.

Final Thoughts

This thing is really cool and I personally like it and recommend it to anyone who is a light dabber or someone who needs/wants to dab on the go. It’s discreet and it slaps when you need it to. Again you’re not going to be doing back to back to back hits on this, but what it does do is give you that nice dab pen experience in a refined and classy package that just works.

How long does the Puffco Pivot battery last?

In my testing, the Puffco Pivot delivered about 10–15 sessions per charge and recharged via USB-C in just over an hour. That’s enough for a full day of use without worrying about power.

Is the Puffco Pivot good for flavor?

Yes. I was surprised by how well it preserved terpenes and flavor notes. Even without water filtration, the Pivot delivered a tasty, nuanced experience with concentrates.

How does the vapor quality compare to larger e-rigs?

As expected from a dab pen, the vapor is smooth but slightly warm. You can get 2–4 solid puffs per session. It won’t match the cooling of a water‑filtered e-rig, but it performs impressively for its size.

What are the main drawbacks of the Puffco Pivot?

The chamber and mouthpiece can get warm during back‑to‑back sessions, the vapor may feel hot for sensitive users, and the silicone mouthpiece gets dirty quickly if used daily.

Who is the Puffco Pivot best suited for?

It’s ideal for light dabbers or anyone who wants a discreet, portable option. It’s a lifestyle device meant for quick hits on the go, not heavy back‑to‑back sessions.

Who should avoid the Puffco Pivot?

If you’re a heavy hitter who prefers large globs and long sessions, the Pivot won’t keep up. Devices like the Puffco Peak Pro or Bomb E‑Rig Sykloud are better suited for that style.
