Welcome to our Yocan Pocket review! Yocan sent me over their new Yocan Pocket for review. Yocan “Black” is a new product line that is their attempt to enter the more premium and high performance market. So let’s dive into this review and see if the Yocan Pocket really delivers!
My testing method for the Yocan Pocket
Yocan sent me the Pocket and I immediately started my testing on it. My testing involves 1. Reading the manual and following all directions 2. Taking the device apart (as much as is recommended by the manufacturer) to understand its workings and how best to clean it and service it 3. I use the device as someone who owns it and would use it in the real world. I always try to use it in real-world settings. 4. I use it in all available modes and configurations for at least one week every day, multiple times a day.

Yocan Pocket First Impressions
When I received the pocket, I was greeted with some really solid packaging. The box and the layout of the packaging was well thought through and did a great job protecting the device in transit.
The unboxing experience was on par with more expensive brands like puffco and after holding the Pocket, its closest comparison is the puffco pivot for sure.

Yocan Pocket Design

The pocket sure lives up to its namesake as it is small and can definitely fit in your pocket with no issues at all. It’s sleek and feels really nice in the hand. The metal outer body gives it a premium feel and the silicone mouthpiece reminds me of the puffco pivot.
User Interface

The pocket has a single button interface with a rainbow led strip and a very small little screen that gives you information like temperature, heating timer, countdown timer, as well as a hit counter. The rainbow screen is pretty to look at (especially when you’re medicated) and pulses to let you know what stage of its cycle it’s in.
The single button uses common clicks like five clicks to power the device on and off and two clicks to start a session. Three clicks allow you to change the temperature and four clicks let you change the length of your session.
It also has some haptic feedback (it vibrates) to let you know when it’s ready or for a few other things.
Silicone Mouthpiece

The silicone mouthpiece is really nice and doesn’t flavor the vapor at all in my time testing with it. It has a captive top that you can pull off to add your dabs into and it won’t get lost or fall off. The mouthpiece is quite deep and does a decent job of keeping the vapor cool (more on that later).
Cloud 3 Chamber

The cloud 3 chamber is a ceramic chamber that screws into the device. It does a great job of vaporizing the concentrate in it and comes to temp quickly and holds the temperature really well.
My Two weeks with the Yocan Pocket
I’ve had the pocket for just over two weeks and I’ve been using it every single night and during the day and I have to say, I am impressed by this little thing! Let’s talk about what I like about it, then we will talk about some small annoyances or issues I’ve had.
What I like
This thing is really great. Yocan did it, folks! I would put this in the exact same category as the much more expensive puffco pivot (I’ll be doing a comparison post about these soon). But let’s go through all the things I like about the pocket!
- Size: The size of the Yocan pocket is great. It fits nicely in my hand and it fits great in my pocket. It’s small enough to stay out of the way but still big enough to hold a good battery and give me a good experience.
- The design: I really like the design of the pocket. You can tell that the folks over at Yocan have learned a lot about product design and have put some solid effort into this little device!
- Flavor and vapor quality: Like I said before, the pocket is a direct competitor to the puffco pivot and the dr dabber ghost and this thing definitely stands in their category but at a low price point of $85. The vapor quality is smooth and clean and very flavorful. I ran it at 450F and it produced solid, flavorful vapor.
- Maintenance and cleaning: This thing is easy to clean and keep maintained.
- The price: Yocan is definitely trying to disrupt the market here and for $85, this thing is a solid choice if you want the quality that the big dogs offer, but at a lower price tag.
Gripes and misses
Before I list these off, I feel I must say that my overall experience with this is a positive one. But in the interest of fairness, I want to be clear about some challenges or issues you may have with this thing.
- The chamber is deep in the silicone mouthpiece. So loading it can be a bit of a pain so you’ll want a hot knife for SURE when using this so it’ll drop down with no issues.
- The “cap” or cover for the chamber gets in the way a bit, you need to hold it open while loading a dab.
- The charging port is at the bottom of the device so you need to lay it down when it’s charging. This isn’t a big deal, but you need to consider this when you charge because if you decide to charge it right after a session, you can’t lay it down because the hot concentrate could leak out or make a mess.
- Single button control is good for simplicity, but like on all devices with this scheme, it can get a little annoying. If I am changing the temperature for instance, I need to be careful not to accidentally overshoot my target temp because if I do, I’ll need to cycle all the way through the temp to get back to my target temperature. I wish it had plus and minus buttons on it.
One final thing to consider is that the brand is headquartered in China and if you have issues with your device, you may experience some time delays or challenges with getting a resolution to your problem. I haven’t experienced this and the people I have been in contact with have been very responsive over there, but your mileage may vary so keep that in mind.
Bottom Line
So do I recommend the Yocan Pocket? Yes, I do based on performance and price alone. I genuinely think this thing is a solid little performer and stands up in the same arena as the puffco pivot but is much cheaper and has many of the same features. This thing is a really great value based off price to performance!
