Here is our POTV Lobo Review 2025

I can’t stand shill at all. When I sense that someone is being a shill, I usually tune them out. It’s because of these facts that I am hesitant to write this review…let me explain.

Planet Of The Vapes sent me their POTV Lobo for review not too long ago and I’ve been daily driving it for just a little over two weeks now. In all my reviews, I strive to stay objective and impartial even when a company sends me their product. Sometimes the product isn’t very good and sometimes it’s excellent…but no matter what I always do my best to be honest, unbiased, and transparent. So what about the LOBO? It’s really good for the price, folks. So… at the risk of sounding like a shill…here is my POTV Lobo Review for 2025. Is it really that good? Let’s talk about it.

First Impressions & Unboxing

As I stated above, I have had the Lobo for a little over two weeks. I put down my trusty ball vape and my mighty+ and picked up the Lobo. To be fully transparent, I was a bit apprehensive coming from a ruby twist and a Mighty+ but duty called (tbh it’s not a duty, I just love this hobby and it’s really fun for me 🙂).

Unboxing

When the package arrived, I opened up the shipping box and packing materials and was struck by the nice, sleek design of the packaging for the LOBO. It’s giving Iphone vibes. Opening up the package, you’re greeted with the device (mine is green) and all of its included accessories like dosing capsules, brush, instructions, screens, charging cable (no brick), and spare o-rings. Everything is laid out logically and it’s a solid unboxing experience.

First Impressions

The body of the Lobo is made out of anodized aluminum and is an excellent size for holding in your hand. The buttons are in a good place where your fingers naturally land. The power button is a large, easy to press button, and underneath it are the plus and minus buttons used to turn the heat up or down.

My initial thought when I picked this up was “wow this is nice”. There were some really smart design choices on the POTV Lobo too. One of those smart design choices is the silicone grips on the side of the cooling unit. These help in assisting you when removing it, but they also insulate it from any heat that may have built up over long sessions.

The screen is another solid mention here. It’s black and white, shows your temperature, battery level, session timer and target temperature. Solid and easy to read. The other feature I noticed is the titanium oven. POTV has opted to aim for a smaller diameter oven with a deeper chamber than other devices that aim for a wider diameter and a more shallow chamber. The oven can hold about .2 grams which is plenty for your session(s).

My Two Weeks With The LOBO

First Use and Operation

After I fully charged the POTV Lobo and did my usual burn-off sessions (burn-off sessions are when you run your device at its highest temperature for its longest session a few times to burn off any manufacturing residue that may still be in the oven or cooling chamber/mouthpiece), it was time for my first hit!

I packed the chamber (not too tightly) with some herb from my local dispensary (I fully filled the chamber up) and sat down for my first session. Clicking the power button 3 times turns the Lobo on and you simply use the plus or minus button to set your target temperature. I set mine to 350F which is my preferred starting place for dry herbs as it gives, in my opinion, the best flavor to vapor ratio.

The POTV Lobo only has session mode available to you (just a heads up), and adjusting the time is pretty simple. Turn it on (3 clicks of the power button), then press the power button and the plus button to enter into the Lobo’s menu. From there you can adjust the session time from 7 presets that range from 3 mins to 7 mins. This is the full duration of the time once it’s turned on. What that means is that if you have it at 7 minutes for your session time and it takes 15 seconds to heat up, your actual session time is 6 minutes and 45 seconds.

Once you’ve set your optimal session time, you can also adjust the screen and change between Fahrenheit and Celsius.

After everything is set the way you like it, it’s time to enjoy that herb! Let’s talk about that first experience!

Vapor Quality, Flavor, and Performance

I did my first pull and (again I’m not trying to sound like a shill here) I was genuinely surprised. I was sitting next to my wife and I remember saying “wow this is really good for the price”. To remind you, I was using my mighty+ as a daily driver and have been for a few years. I also had come off of my ruby twist ball vape (which in my opinion, is some of the best dry herb vaping you can do) so my expectations for a sub $200 device were tempered a bit.

Vapor Quality

The vapor was pretty cool, smooth, and I got a decent sized cloud out of it. A reminder, I set my temperature at 350F to start which usually produces a decent little cloud and the Lobo did a good job here. I tend to try to go for some good flavor on my first few pulls in my session and then I step the temperature up by 10 degrees once I start to see the vapor thin out. I ended my first session at about 365 degrees F and I was getting some really good, flavorful, and cool clouds out of it. No coughing or irritation at all.

Once the session ended I knew my herb still had more to offer so I started up another session immediately. This time jumping my temperature to 370F and ending my session at around 380F. The herb produced more vapor and overall it stayed pretty clean until about my third successive session where I was nearing the 400F mark. That’s about when I started to get the tickle in my throat and my herb as almost completely cashed out. Heres a pic of what my herb looked like after my first session (see below).

Flavor

Flavor is another area where I was genuinely surprised by the POTV Lobo. I was legit surprised that I could taste some of the terps and other flavors my herb had to offer. Most devices in this range do ok to sub-par on flavor, but the Lobo was giving flavor that was close to the Airvape Legacy Pro 2 range and sort of surpassed the Arizer Solo 3 v2. A genuine surprise for sure. While the Lobo doesn’t produce near as much vapor as the Solo 3 v2, it delivers on flavor.

Performance

As stated above, I think the Lobo performs a bit above its price range. For a $160 vaporizer, it’s hanging in categories of vaporizers that are $50-100 dollars more expensive. You can tell that all of the design choices made on this device were made or influenced by someone who knows dry herb vaporizers.

The heat up time is adequate (not the best in class) at roughly 40-48 seconds depending on how high you have your temperature set and starting from zero. Once you’ve already completed a session, and start another one over, you’ll have around a 10-15 second re-heat time. Just a reminder that this heat up time does eat into your overall session time.

The Technical Stuff

Titanium Oven/Heating Chamber

The heating chamber is made of titanium and holds about .20 grams of your favorite herb. POTV has opted for a smaller diameter and a deeper chamber here. I suspect this was to keep the overall width and size of the device down. Either way, it’s a decent sized chamber and is a bit of an optical illusion because you can pack more herb in there than you initially think.

The choice of titanium is a nice balance between a ceramic coated chamber and an all aluminum chamber. One on hand, ceramic coated chambers retain heat and flavor best, while aluminum chambers heat up fast but lose heat quicker. The choice of titanium seems to be a nice balance between the two. It heats up relatively quickly and still retains its heat and flavor. While it’s not best in class, it’s a good middle ground. And I think you’ll find that’s where this device is unashamedly trying to land…right in the middle.

Silicone Free Airpath

Another technical feature is a silicone free air-path. When it comes to dry herb vaporizers, it’s crucial that there aren’t any harmful particulates in the air-path so that’s why many companies aim for an “all glass” air-path or they put peek and glass or peek and titanium in the flow of the air-path. Either way, the goal here was to keep the vapor as clean as possible before you inhale it.

Battery Life and Charging

The POTV Lobo comes with a replaceable 18650 battery. This does a solid job of giving you roughly 8-10 total sessions before you need to recharge. The addition of a replaceable battery means that as your battery naturally degrades over time, you can replace it without needing to send your unit in for service or replacement. In my opinion, wherever possible, I think vaporizer companies should opt for replaceable batteries as opposed to integrated batteries to cut down on e-waste. This is a welcome feature.

As far as charging goes, the Lobo has USB-C charging and relatively fast charging. You can usually fully charge the battery in about 90 minutes or so. It does not have pass-thru charging which is a bummer for sure, but an ok trade off for a device at this price point.

The Lobo also does not come with a dedicated charging brick (thanks apple…. iykyk) so you’ll have to supply the appropriate USB-C charging brick.

The POTV Ecosystem

One of the added benefits of buying a POTV device is their ecosystem of accessories. I’ve tested this device with their mini-gordito glass bubbler and their water pipe attachment. While those are their own separate reviews, what I will say about this device is how easy it is to switch between all of these setups.

You simply pull the original glass mouthpiece out and insert whatever POTV accessory you need into the cooling unit. Simple and easy. That, for some, may be a selling point or strong feature.

This won’t factor into my review scores or overall recommendation, but it’s definitely worth noting.

Gripes and Issues

This is a great little device, but I want to highlight a couple of things that could be better on it!

My biggest gripe is that the Lobo doesn’t have any type of pass-thru charging. I realize this may be a trade-off that helps keep the cost low, but that would have added to the overall value immensely. It’s rare that I need to use pass-thru charging but in the event that you need it, it’s a very welcomed feature.

In future revisions of this device, I would love for them to add in on-demand mode. With this device being so “pocketable” I think it’s a real miss not to have on-demand mode. If it was there, this would be the perfect grab and go vape.

Also, the device can get a bit warm in the hand after 4 sessions. It by no means feels like it’s going to burn you, but it will get a bit warm to hold if you’re doing a lot of back to back sessions.

Who is the POTV Lobo For?

So who is it for? Anyone who is budget conscious and wants a really solid little vaporizer that can do everything decently well! It works great for something you can throw in your pocket and go. It also works great as an at home vaporizer that can sit on your nightstand for some sesh and Netflix.

I would also say that this is a great vaporizer for someone who wants to invest in their first, legit vaporizer or someone who wants to do a budget conscious upgrade. While I’ve recommended a few other vapes as first timers (like the Xmax v3 pro), this one’s price may make the first timer balk a bit, but what you get for the price is a really, really solid vaporizer.

Final Verdict and Recommendation

Ok, pardon me while I step on a mini soapbox here…(I’m probably going to write a blog post on this topic soon). There is no such thing as an “end-game” vape and there shouldn’t be one. No vaporizer is going to be your end-all-be-all vaporizer and it shouldn’t be. If there was one, then there would be no reason for other brands to exist and ultimately it would be bad for the consumer because that would stifle innovation and competition.

Why do I say all that? Because if you expect this device to your end-game vape, you’ll be disappointed. It’s not trying to be that. The POTV Lobo isn’t even trying to be the number one premium vaporizer.

What the Lobo is trying to be is a really well equipped Toyota not a Ferrari. It’s solid and well rounded and affordable. It’s trying to deliver a quality experience at an affordable price point.

If you’re someone who is trying to stay under $200 for your vape or you’re looking for an additional vape that can be really portable but you don’t want to make a lot of quality sacrifices, then I think the Lobo would be a solid choice!

What is the POTV Lobo and who is it for?

The POTV Lobo is a portable dry herb vaporizer designed for budget-conscious users who want solid performance without sacrificing build quality. It’s ideal for both beginners investing in their first legit device and seasoned users seeking a reliable, pocket-friendly vaporizer under $200.

Does the POTV Lobo deliver good flavor and vapor quality

Yes—surprisingly so for its price range. The Lobo produces smooth, cool vapor with decent clouds and better-than-expected flavor clarity, especially at lower temps. It competes with more expensive units in terms of flavor, outpacing many budget options.

How long does the POTV Lobo take to heat up?

The Lobo takes about 40–48 seconds to reach your target temperature from a cold start. Reheating between sessions is faster, usually around 10–15 seconds, though this time does count against your total session duration.

What kind of oven does the POTV Lobo use?

The Lobo uses a titanium heating chamber that holds approximately 0.2 grams of herb. It’s designed with a narrow, deep profile to balance compactness with effective extraction and heat retention—striking a middle ground between ceramic and aluminum chambers.

Is the POTV Lobo’s airpath safe and clean?

Yes, the Lobo features a silicone-free airpath designed to keep vapor pure and clean. Materials like titanium and glass are used to avoid introducing unwanted particulates into your inhale, improving the safety and taste of each session.

How is the battery life on the POTV Lobo?

The device uses a removable 18650 battery, offering around 8–10 sessions per charge. This user-replaceable battery setup reduces long-term e-waste and means you don’t have to send the unit back when the battery wears out.

Does the POTV Lobo support USB-C charging?

Yes, the Lobo charges via USB-C and reaches a full charge in about 90 minutes. It doesn’t support pass-through charging, and a dedicated charging brick is not included, so users need to provide their own USB-C compatible adapter.

Can I use the POTV Lobo with other POTV accessories?

Absolutely. The Lobo is compatible with a variety of POTV accessories, like the mini-gordito glass bubbler and water pipe attachment. Swapping between setups is fast and simple—just remove the glass mouthpiece and insert your preferred accessory.
